Dr. Sherry Johnson

About this speaker

Dr. Sherry Johnson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Languages and Literature at Grand Valley State University. She teaches courses in early, modern and contemporary African American literature, Multicultural literatures of the USA, and critical approaches to literary study. Her research interests include diasporic Black women's writing, neo-slave narratives, multiculturalism rhetoric, and Transnational Studies with a focus on Black movement across the Canada/US border. Her work appears in the American Studies Journal, African American Review, the Dictionary of Caribbean and Afro-Latin American Biography, and other publications.
